Interactive Flood Maps (SF LA slide shows)
20091125 at 17:42 There is a fascinating site that provides interactive flood maps for
Europe N. America S. America Africa SE. Asia China & Japan and Australia.
Simply dial in the number of meters of sea level rise and the map will update to show the predicted flooding for that level.
Here are slide shows showing rising sea level flood maps for Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Static images below link to the appropriate interactive map.
N.B. Site uses color “dithering” which is improper from a sampling perspective. Los Angeles maps are higher resolution, and scaled down here — showing the “digital artifacts” that are exposed when “improper” images are manipulated. A common example of this error is to use a black and white checkerboard pattern to represent a 50% gray color.
